Title : Getting old and minor criminal records removed
Description : The Criminal Records Act does not mean that records of spent convictions will be deleted. The NSW Police Criminal Records Unit retains information on all charges, court appearances and convictions. Except in the case of some juvenile records in the Children's Court these records are not automatically destroyed when the convictions they relate to are spent.

Title : Applying for an National Criminal Records Check - Information Sheet
Description : NSW Police provides an opportunity for NSW residents aged 16 years and above to apply for a National Criminal History Record Check ( NCHRC) for visa, adoption, employment and some licensing purposes. The service is not currently available for volunteer purposes. The NSW Police intends to offer NCHRC services for volunteer purposes via Registered Organisations in late 2005. Title : Criminal records and spent convictions
Description : Records of criminal offences you have been charged with and/ or and convicted of can never be removed from your criminal record. However, under both NSW and Commonwealth legislation some convictions can become 'spent'. If a conviction is 'spent' this means that you do not have to disclose that conviction if you are asked about your criminal record.

Title : Criminal Records Act 1991 and Spent Convictions
Description : The Criminal Records Act places limits on how long information about a person's convictions can be used. The Act provides for a crime free period after which most minor offences will be treated as spent. Once a conviction is spent the person concerned is not obliged to disclose it.

Description : NSW Police Force provides an opportunity for NSW residents aged 16 and above to apply for a National Criminal History Record Check ( NCHRC) for visa, adoption, specified licensing purposes and paid employment where a community benefit is achieved. Additionally, NSW Police will provide a NCHRC service for volunteers in Commonwealth supported aged care facilities, in line with new Commonwealth regulations. The service is not available for child-related employment, Security Industry licensing, Firearms licensing or Australian residency purposes.
