Getting old and minor criminal records removed |
| Description : |
The Criminal Records Act does not mean that records of spent convictions will be deleted. The NSW Police Criminal Records Unit retains information on all charges, court appearances and convictions. Except in the case of some juvenile records in the Children's Court these records are not automatically destroyed when the convictions they relate to are spent. |

NSW Police provides an opportunity for NSW residents aged 16 years and above to apply for a National Criminal History Record Check ( NCHRC) for visa, adoption, employment and some licensing purposes. | Description : |
Records of criminal offences you have been charged with and/ or and convicted of can never be removed from your criminal record. However, under both NSW and Commonwealth legislation some convictions can become 'spent'. If a conviction is 'spent' this means that you do not have to disclose that conviction if you are asked about your criminal record. |

Additionally, NSW Police will provide a NCHRC service for volunteers in Commonwealth supported aged care facilities, in line with new Commonwealth regulations.
