LawAccess NSW is a free service that provides legal information, advice and referrals for people who have a legal problem in NSW.
We have Aboriginal staff who can talk to you about your legal problem and also connect you with other services, including Aboriginal Legal Services, if you need more help.

You can call us on 1300 888 529 for the cost of a local call between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

If you are going to court, have a legal problem or have a question about the law we can help you get the help you need.
We will:
- listen to your story and give you legal information
- get one of our Lawyers to give you advice over the telephone
- find you another service that is best able to help you
What type of legal problem can we help you with?
We can help you with a number of legal problems including:
- Family violence
- Access to your kids
- Issues with DoCS
- Family and relationship issues
- Losing your home
- A loan or money you owe
- Fines
- Crime
- Issues at work
- Standing up for your rights
- Issues with the Police
- Taking care of business (wills, power of attorney, enduring guardian)
LawAccess Online
Our website www.lawaccess.nsw.gov.au is a great starting point to search for information about your legal problem or question about the law. Our website is easy to search and available at any time.
It includes LawAssist. LawAssist has some information to help you if you are dealing with a legal problem or representing yourself in a court or tribunal.
You can access the Internet at most Local Libraries. Please contact your Local Library for availability times.
Can I get Legal Aid?
Whether you can get Legal Aid depends on the type of legal problem you have and your income. If you are not sure whether you will get Legal Aid our staff can help you to fill out the Legal Aid Application form.
