1. Judge/Registrar
In divorce cases at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia this is a Judge or Registrar. You should call a Registrar ‘Registrar’’ and a Judge Your Honour’.

The person who applied for the divorce is the applicant. This person or their lawyer sits on the left side of the bar table. There may be other people waiting for their case to be heard sitting at or behind the bar table.

2. Associate/Court Officer This person helps the Judge or Registrar. If you need to give documents to the Judge or Registrar, you hand them to the Associate or Court Officer.
| 5. Respondent Your spouse is the respondent. They may have filed a response to your divorce application. This person or their lawyer sits on the right side of the bar table. There may be other people waiting for their case to be heard sitting at or behind the bar table.

This is where a witness will sit if they are asked to give oral evidence, under oath.
