1. Judicial officer In the Local Court, this may be a registrar, magistrate or assessor. | 5. Plaintiff The person who is making a
claim.

2. Court Officer This person helps the
judicial officer.
| 6. Defendant The person who is defending
a claim.

3. BenchThis is where the judicial
officer sits. You should not go up to the bench unless asked. If you need to
give documents to the judicial officer, the court officer will get them from
you.
| 7. Bar tableThis is the table where you
should sit when your case is called.

4. Witness box or standThis is where a witness
will sit if they are asked to give oral evidence under oath.
