Application:
I apply to vary the Final Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) made by the Local Court of NSW on 10 February 20XX
The order will expire on 10 August 20XX (Registry to forward copy of application to NSW Police if expiration will occur prior to list date)
A copy of the order is attached.
Grounds of Application:
I am the defendant named in the Final AVO made on 10 February 20XX for a period of 6 months. The AVO will expire on 10 August 20XX.
Prior to the making of the application for an AVO, I had held a licence under the Firearms Act and held a Class 1F licence issued under the Security Act. The Class 1F licence allowed me to be armed while performing security services, so long as I held a licence under the Firearms Act. At that time I worked as an armed security guard.
At the hearing of the application for an AVO, I consented to the AVO and I was told that my firearms licence was revoked. As a result, I lost my job. I still have my security licence but I can’t take any job that requires me to carry a firearm.
On 4 March 20XX, I enrolled in an anger management course. The course was run over three months and required me to attend one on one counselling sessions with a trained psychologist once a week, as well as twice weekly group therapy sessions involving other men and women who had similar anger problems as mine, conducted by a trained psychiatrist.
I completed the anger management course and I am confident that I am now better equipped to deal with my anger issues. I have also moved to Tweed Heads and I no longer see, or have any contact with, the protected person/s.
I wish to resume my career in the security industry and I would like to be able to apply for a firearms licence again.
Nature of Variation Sought:
That the AVO made on 10 February 20XX be revoked.
EXISTING FAMILY LAW ORDERS:
Nil.
Date of Filing Application: 1 May 20XX
Signature of Applicant: M. Howard
(Signed on Court Copy)
Notice to the Parties:

An order is not to be varied or revoked unless the application is served on each of the parties to whom the order relates.
