The action you take will depend on your responses to each step in the flow chart. The flow chart is described as a list of 6 steps in which possible actions are listed beneath each step.
Step 1. The court made a decision and may have sent you a Notice of Penalty [link to After court]. Possible action:
You pay the total amount owing by the due date [link to Paying the court fine].
You arrange to pay by Centrepay (if you get Centrelink benefits) [link to Paying the court fine].
You apply for time to pay the fine by the due date [link to Paying the court fine]. Go to Step 2.
You apply for a Work and Development Order (WDO) and complete activities to pay off your fine decision [link to Paying the court fine].
You do nothing [link to Paying the court fine]. Go to Step 3.
You file an appeal to the District Court within 28 days [link to Appeals and annulments].
You apply to annul (cancel) the magistrate's decision within two years of the decision if you were not at court when the decision was made [link to Appeals and annulments]. Go to Step 4.
Step 2. You apply for time to pay the fine by the due date [link to Paying the court fine]. Possible action:
Step 3. The outstanding fine is sent to Revenue NSW for enforcement [link to Responding to an enforcement order].
Step 4. You apply to annul (cancel) the magistrate's decision within two years of the decision if you were not at court when the decision was made [link to Appeals and annulments]. Possible action:
Step 5. A magistrate refuses to annul the decision [link to Making an annulment application Step by Step guide]. Possible action:
Step 6. Your matter is re-listed for mention [link to Mention].
