​Have you got a fine?

Each box in the flow chart contains a hyperlink to further information. 

The action you take will depend on your responses to each step in the flow chart. The flowchart is described as a list of 6 steps in which possible actions are listed beneath each step.

Step 1. You get a Penalty Notice (a fine) [link to Have you got a fine?]. Possible action:

• You pay the fine in full, by instalments, by Centrepay (if you get Centrelink benefits) [link to Paying the fine].

• You do nothing or you only pay part of the fine [link to What if I do nothing?]. Go to Step 2.

• You apply for a Work and Development Order (WDO) and complete activities to pay off your fine [link to Applying for a work and development order].

• You nominate the person responsible [link to Naming the person responsible].

• You write to Revenue NSW and ask for a review by the due date [link to Asking for a review]. Go to Step 3.

• You elect (choose) to go to court by the due date [link to Electing to go to court]. Go to Step 6.

Step 2. You receive a Penalty Reminder Notice for the outstanding balance [link to What if I do nothing?]. Possible action:

• You write to Revenue NSW and ask for a review by the due date [link to Asking for a review].  Go to Step 3.

• You pay the fine in full by the due date [link to Paying the fine].

• You do nothing or only pay some of the fine [link to What if I do nothing?]. Go to Step 5.

• You apply for a WDO and complete activities to pay off your fine [link to Applying for a work and development order].

• You nominate the person responsible [link to Naming the person responsible].

• You elect (choose) to go to court [link to Electing to go to court]. Go to Step 6.

Step 3.  You write to Revenue NSW and ask for a review by the due date [link to Asking for a review]. Possible action:

• Revenue NSW withdraws the fine [link to Asking for a review].

• Revenue NSW rejects your request and you receive a Penalty Reminder Notice] [link to Asking for a review]. Go to Step 4.

Step 4. Revenue NSW rejects your request and you receive a Penalty Reminder Notice [link to Asking for a review]. Possible action:

• You pay the fine in full by the due date [link to Paying the fine].

• You do nothing or only pay some of the fine [link to What if I do nothing?]. Go to Step 5.

• You apply for a WDO and complete activities to pay off your fine [link to Applying for a work and development order].

• You nominate the person responsible [link to Naming the person responsible].

• You elect (choose) to go to court [link to Electing to go to court]. Go to Step 6.

Step 5. You receive an overdue fine from Revenue NSW [link to What if I do nothing?].

Step 6. You receive a Court Attendance Notice [link to Flowchart: Going to Court].
